Boxes

Boxes – Desk Box, Jewellery Box, Cufflink Box, Keepsake Box……

A box can be for whatever purpose you wish. All the boxes on this page have been hand-made and each one is unique.  Some are of traditional dovetailed construction, others have mitred joints, these being reinforced with mitre ‘keys’ (also known as splines), made of a contrasting timber.  Using a contrasting timber ensures that they are beautiful as well as functional (the mitre key/spline reinforces the joint).
All of the boxes shown here have tops and bases made from veneers, some of which are quite modest in appearance, some of which are quite bold (look, for instance, at the box with the Zebrano top).  Many also have inlaid strings made from Ebony, Boxwood, or Swiss Pear.  These ‘strings’ have all been hand-made – a painstaking and time-consuming process, but one which enhances the visual appeal of the box and further enhances its unique character.
If you would like me to design and make you a box, to your specification, please contact me.  The boxes shown on this page are just some examples of my work.
